Types of Video Games that Every People Play

There are types of video games that every people enjoy. They range from offline up to the current online gaming that requires real-time interaction with people. Every people has different taste in gaming types, so if they have different genre so does others like me have different genres or field in gaming.

Here, I am going to list some types, but not all, of gaming genre. The best part is by discovering them by yourself. Here are some genres so that you will have an idea.

1. Action

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back is a wonderful action-adventure game that I played so far.

Action games require massive amount of gaming controls from player in order to move or act. These type of games usually center at the character he or she was controlling. Mastery of controls is important in some aspects of the game. For example, if you are going to do the jump-slash technique, then you should do it by letting the character to jump, and then by letting the attack button to be pressed while in air.
Other types of action genre include fighting, the beat-em-up style, and the infamous side-scrolling shooting genre.

2. Adventure

The Japanese visual novel game, Shuffle!, is somehow attracting male fans because of its eye-candy visuals.

This type of video game allows users or people to advance through the story of the game by choosing different dialogues, choices, and routes to determine the outcome or the ending of the game. The endings, as stated, are multiple, and it will depend on the user choices. Usually, these type of games are usually short in length, and they can be replayed repeatedly in order to unlock all of the bonus items, most notably, the movies or some of the game's bonus features.

Other sub-genres under this type are visual novels (usually incorporated with the RPG genres) and cutscene adventures (or what they call the interactive movies).

3. Role-playing Games (RPG)

Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 is my all-time favorite game in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. So sweet and I prefer to like this more than the Re;Birth 2 version of this game in PS Vita.

This type of game is a combination of strategy and adventure elements. This allows the players or the users to decide his or her actions by choosing certain skills and spells that will determine the outcome of the battle or the story. Somehow similar to number two mentioned above.
There is also MMORPG, or the massive multiplayer online RPG. It is the same, but with some requirements in Internet connection and the gameplay is real-time (like daily quests and periodical events).
Other sub-genres of this type include the sandbox or the tactical RPG system, which is somehow similar in playing mind games like chess.

4. Simulation

This video game type involves the construction of something, like buildings, farm, etc. A player should construct something by expending in-game currency (sometimes real cash), or by speeding its construction time by spending also real money.

Other types under this genre include the real-time life simulation (example is Tamagotchi), vehicles and other machine simulators.

5. Strategy

DOTA 2 is one of the most popular video games played by most gamers today. Image source
These type of games require you to think before you act. This features the RTS (real-time strategy) games and it can be either offline (at least LAN connection) or online.

For people who are competitive, then this type of game is for them.

6. Sports

For people who loved playing basketball, then NBA 2K16 is for them. Image stills is from YouTube.

Do you love racing? Basketball? Or other sporty games that you got? Then this genre is for you. Not only you focus on the play, but simulation of different aspects, like changing the appearance of your character or your car, is a key feature.

Sometimes, this type of game is usually repeating in gaming style, since you just play the game and then the game ends whether there is a winner or a loser. Somehow, it is similar to the strategy gaming type or genre.

7. Uncategorized Gaming Types

There are other gaming types or genres which were somehow not classified or somehow took one of those genres and combining it with another to form another type or genre. This includes the puzzle, casual gaming, and music genres. Example is a casual game which was formed by combining the RPG and the action types.

The End

To make simply a game trendy, people combine some elements to form a new game which is somehow different from any types of games mentioned. How it become trendy? Maybe it is because of the eye-candy visuals, or perhaps its humor and sense?
