7 Reasons Why People Can't Finish a Video Game

There are certain reasons why people can't finish a video game. Not only because they were lazy to finish it, but there are many reasons why. We all know that the video gaming world is instantly evolving once the time passes and the gaming system and graphics nowadays are also changing.

1. Gaming System

As always the game system changes per time. After releasing a game on a certain timeline, another video game is on the works. When it was released, the game system is quite different from the first one released. The developers are trying to update, whenever they can, their gaming system to satisfy the gamers around the world. But to some, they disliked it because adding those 'unnecessary' gaming system to that game makes it more difficult to play. You know that's a challenge, and this was to explore the new world.

Another type of system updation is through its online features. When a new game patch was released, it will override the old one, thus making the game more updated and new features will be added. Some gamers find it exciting and some find it somewhat difficult to play.

We all know that gaming system can be difficult to understand to some newbie gamers, especially from the past gaming generations. We also know that they become more difficult to play and understand, but the only way to understand it is by through your genre favoritism. If you like guns and shooting, then the first-person shooting games are just for you.

2. Difficulty

The difficulty of the gameplay will just depend on the person who will play, whether he or she is in the new or old gaming generation. For older gaming generations, it can be an adjustment for them since learning the new difficulty from scratch can be painful to the fingers, but makes them stronger than before. For newbies, they must learn the basics of gameplay first. If they are not sure what to control, then they must consult with the game manual or with the experienced gamer.

The older generation has the most difficulty in gaming since there are no on-screen manuals which will help them to complete the task. While the new generation has on-screen manuals or tutorials which will help them, they won't have any difficulty to solve their problems in gaming.

3. Tight Schedule

Tight schedules like work, business, or even schooling, can be a hindrance to person's game completion. The time that people usually work is weekdays, or sometimes it is extended up to weekends. Since work is important to people who likes to earn money to buy new things ,aside from games, this could be a factor why a certain video game can't be finished on time.

For people who are taking up schooling in schools, they are currently finishing their studies first before playing. Children who are schooling usually play only on weekends and are on a schedule basis. The explanation of the schedule basis gaming is very easy to understand at this point.

4. Age Difference

Older gamers are losing interests on some video games since their skills can't match anymore to the gaming system that a game has, or maybe their ability to play is losing due to work schedules. Meanwhile, young gamers are active and they can play any game as many as they could. Since young gamers can either have work or not, they can still finish a video game, when their interest to their favoritism had matched to the game.

5. Favoritism is Losing

If a game is repetitive or the flow of story line is just repeating, a gamer may lose interest in playing or finishing that game anymore. This usually happens in the online game genre, wherein there were daily events like quests, and so on. If you keep repeating the same story line flow or the system (entering a PVP match whether you win or lose), nothing will just happen unless if you get a reward like real money for example. A gamer may lose interest in completion of the game if the system is just repeating.

6. Afraid to Get a 'Game Over' Event

Most of us hate to get this event. I got a previous article which discusses why getting a game over is sometimes important.

I had experienced getting a game over in my favorite RPG that I had playing since. And because of this, I had experienced slowdowns in video gaming completion. Slowdowns meaning that I am focusing more on grinding and battle practice rather than completing the main plot or story line.

For other game genres, like campaign-type gaming system, try playing the previously-played levels and try practicing your controlling skills first!

7. Getting Stuck

Getting stuck at different parts of the game is a problematic situation. When you get stuck, you tried asking from a friend on how to get past through that obstacle, etc. Some are telling that it was just a software bug. Definitely not a software bug, after all.

There is a hint on how to get past through it: Read a game guide.

Some people never finish a game if they are going to get stuck on a certain point of the game and they just leave it behind. Before giving up, have you tried possible solutions on how to get past through it? If it is a puzzle, you just think before you act.

Summary and Conclusion

These are just only the reasons why a person can't finish a video game, whether it is an online game or not. There are factors in which people can't finish it, like getting stuck, gaming system change, difficulty, and so on. Remember that it was one of the challenges that every gaming person should face. You should not get yourself stuck on one system only. You should try other things.
